Summer Outings: July 17-22

July 17- Another easy {lazy} summer day at our house. William slept in past 8am! He showed off his new trick of climbing up in a dining room chair by himself. He is just so proud of himself when he does it! He wanted his snack at the table today, so he took it to the table and climbed up himself.

Doing some reading before bed...

July 18- This morning, after crib stretches of course, Will & I met Bret at IHOP for $0.59 pancakes! William was the loudest one in the place and made sure everyone knew he was there. He said "Hi!" to as many people as he could, thankfully people found him adorable & not annoying! Then, he and I went to Old Navy, where William made a puppy friend. He tried to bring him home, but I explained that the dog has to stay in the store!

July 19- Early morning wake up call this morning, first sounds at 4:45am, but back to sleep. Awake for good at 6:30am. So, what do you do but get out and take a walk before the sun is too blazing hot?!
what a tired William looks like at 6:45am

wake up early = cat nap at 10am!

After a LONG nap, we headed into Shawnee for their Touch A Truck event where Grandma Susie joined in the fun! It wasn't as big as Olathe's in June, but all Will wanted to see were the tractors. He's currently obsessed with all things 'tractor' (lawn mowers, construction equipment, actual tractors).

Bret & Richard went to the Royals game while we looked at trucks!
July 20- When your dad goes to a Royals game and gets your a helmet (that previously held nachos!), you wear the helmet all day and make others wear it as well.

July 22- William's second cousins came over and gave him some of their old toys. Now he has lots of Thomas the Tank Engine toys and I can see track building in our future.
the art easel doubles as a snack table

despite the serious look on his face, William LOVES his tractor book!

Teachers Work in the Summer, too!

I've been regularly in my classroom this summer, more so since July began. Our school is transitioning to flexible seating options in all classrooms. The students will have options for their seating and won't be "tied to" one seat for a whole day/month. Our school PTA purchased seating options for each classroom, varying by grade level.

The students won't have traditional desk cubbies, so in my classroom, each kiddo will have a book bin & a supply box for their things.

Summer Outings: July 9-15

July 9- Not a lot to report today, church and Aldi for groceries in the morning. William played with his current favorite car toy: the motorcycle ("momo" if you ask him). He's pretty protective of it and doesn't like others to hold it, but will show it to you.

Must take ALL toys out to decide what to play with....

July 10- For breakfast today, William had a waffle. Bret decided today was a good day to try syrup for the first time. Clearly, he enjoyed it!

We finished the Johnson County Library June book challenge and earned a certificate!

July 11- Off to a park in the morning! I gotta keep this kid moving or he will explode with energy! He thinks he's a bigger kid than he is and likes to scare me a little on the big equipment by walking to the edge and looking down on the 8-10 foot drops (who designed that?!).

looking more and more like a little boy, not a baby!

July 12- This morning, we had a late breakfast and took a walk to the coffee shop not too far from our house to get dada some caffeine. Bret has taken him here before and William likes to try out all their chairs and share a snack as dada drinks his coffee.
had to get every drop of applesauce!

There's a little free library in our neighborhood, so we stopped and got Will a new book to read.

It's so hot out in the afternoon (and that's naptime anyway), so we went for an evening swim! William played in the baby pool and the big kid pool. He was kicking around and probably would have tried to swim away from us if we would have let him. He's going to be a fish! And he was so tuckered out after swimming, straight to sleep!

July 13- William woke up with a temp so we called in for a lazy day. We watched a movie together: he would snuggle and watch, then get up and play, then back for another snuggle, and so on. Still eating and drinking well, so that's good!

July 15- Will woke up feeling better (and no temp!) so we decided we could go play. Back to Grand Star Elementary for some playtime!
Grumpy morning = picnic breakfast on the kitchen floor
