Weekend Trip to Indianapolis

Bret and I went to Indianapolis for a rugby friend's wedding. It was our FIRST TIME away from William. As you can imagine, I was a mess about leaving him. Not that something would happen or that Bret's parents would not be able to handle it, but just that I would miss him so very much. And, I was right, he was perfectly healthy and happy when we returned, but I was aching to see him by the time we pulled back into our driveway.

Anyway, back to the trip! Bret and I flew to Indy on Friday morning, getting there about noon. It was pouring rain. There went my plan of walking around the city to explore! But, they have a system of skywalks, so we were able to get through the city in these hamster tunnel mazes without having to walk in the rain. After a couple of hours, the rain stopped and we could properly explore. Our legs were definitely feeling the walking, we probably walked over 5 miles each that day!

On Saturday, we slept in! Wait, what is sleeping in?? I haven't done that in SO LONG! I was glorious!!!!! Then we went exploring more! They have the NCAA Hall of Champions to visit. We found a 9/11 memorial as we were walking as well. We also went up in that obelisk (picture above). Not sure what I was thinking with my fear of heights, but it had great views of the city!

Then there was the wedding, of course! Bret played rugby with Dan and we met Katie a couple of years ago. They are the sweetest couple, always thinking of others. They live in Chicago, but Katie is from Indy. It was wonderful to see some former teammates of Bret's and I hope to see more soon in the KC area.

Most couples go for a quick drink before the wedding & reception, we found an AMAZING donut shop #coplife

Our flight home on Sunday wasn't until the evening, so we decided we should go to the zoo! Little did we realize we would be reminded of William every time we turned around with all the kids who where there. There was also a 15mo baby orangutan that could have been Will's twin! It was all over the place and messing around while the adults were just trying to have some peace and relax. It didn't hurt that the orangutan was a redhead as well ;)

We were so excited to be home! William had a big, surprised smile for us. Bret put him down for bed and he waved goodbye to me. Then, after he waved, he opened his arms for a hug that I just couldn't pass up! We love our little guy!!
